The Children of Asia Games ended in Yakutsk
The closing ceremony of the VIII Children of Asia International Sports Games took place on July 6 at the Nikolai Tarskiy Tuimaada Stadium in Yakutsk. During eleven days in Yakutia there were exciting competitions in 24 sports, in which 30 teams from 24 countries took part. A total of 239 sets of medals were played.
Head of Yakutia Aysen Nikolaev congratulated the winners and medalists of the VIII Children of Asia Games. The national team of Uzbekistan won the most – 36 gold medals, the team of the Siberian Federal District – 31, the team of the Republic of Belarus – 27. The first team of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has 25 gold medals.
Bekhruz Salimov, member of the Uzbekistan national team, taekwondo champion in the 48 kg weight category, spoke on behalf of the participants of the VIII Children of Asia Games.
“These wonderful days are over, they flew by like one moment. We, young athletes – participants of the VIII Children of Asia Games, will remember them for the rest of our lives. Dear residents of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), thank you for this celebration of sport, friendship and joy that you have organized for all of us. Many of us will return home with medals, and we will all take home unforgettable impressions of the hospitable Yakut land. But we will never forget Yakutia, Children of Asia and our new friends. I am proud to be an alumnus of the Games. May there always be peace, may there always be Children of Asia!” – said the young athlete.
The following sports were presented at the Games: boxing, wrestling, khapsagai, judo, kickboxing, athletics, mas-wrestling, swimming, shooting, sambo, archery, wall shooting, table tennis, dance sport, taekwondo, rhythmic gymnastics, basketball 3×3, volleyball, futsal, chess, go, rock climbing, kurash and belt wrestling “Alysh”.
The VIII Children of Asia International Sports Games were held in Yakutsk from June 26 to July 7, 2024. They were attended by young athletes from Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Bahrain, Bangladesh, the Republic of Belarus, Georgia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, DPRK, China, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Mongolia, Palestine, Pakistan, the Republic of Korea, Syria, Tajikistan, Thailand, Uzbekistan.
The closing ceremony was continued by a bright concert program “We are the Children of Asia! We are Children of the Sun!”.
