Yakut dance “Osuohai” included in the 100 masterpieces of the intangible heritage of the peoples of Russia
The Yakut circular dance osuohai was included in the list of 100 masterpieces of the intangible heritage of the peoples of Russia. The certificate was presented at the House of Folk Art named after V.D. Polenov in St. Petersburg.
The list of 100 masterpieces of the intangible heritage of the peoples of Russia was formed within the framework of the project “Golden Anthology of Folk Culture” of the House of Folk Art named after V.D. Polenov. 100 objects of the intangible cultural heritage of the peoples of Russia are holidays, epic tales, crafts, craft, song and dance traditions. Among them is the Yakut circular dance osuohai.
“Osuohai is a traditional round dance of the Yakuts. It is a sacred symbol of the cycle of life, the triumph of bright beginnings, it is a dance of friendship, unity.”
In 2012, a Guinness world record was set in the capital of the republic. 15 thousand 293 people gathered in the biggest osuohai dance to celebrate the Yakut New Year and mark the beginning of summer.
